I need to apply some somewhat-minor changes to my images that I imported with the Resource Import Tool. The Tool imported the images to \\servername\NSCap\bin\Deployment\Packages\Images; then a sub-folder with the resources GUID. The images are ghost files, they will be edited with Ghost Explorer. I will need to replace a existing .cmd script file with an updated one of the same file name, and add a folder to the image's C: drive for an installation of MS Outlook 2010. Is this safe to do? I want to make sure I do not break the image(s). Worst case scenario I could re-import them from another source I have them backed up to with the applied changes. But that would mean cleaning up the existing images under NSCap and PkgSvrHoste$.

That is what Ghost Explorer is for, so you should be good to go.  Its also nice to see that you already have a DR strategy just in case the edit goes pair-shaped.

What you could do is edit the image outside of the Altiris environmnet and then manually image a machine with it in orer to test its functionality.  If it gets the green light, you can perform the edit to the image that is within the Altiris environment.

I did that already off of Altiris. Made a copy of my backup image(s). Applied the changes I need and tested the image(s) and they are fine. Was not sure if applying the chnages on the images stored in Altiris would be ok to do.
