  • 1.  The EFI variable could not be read???

I have a particular computer that will not image correctly and I can't figure out why.  It goes through the process of placing the image onto the hard drive and then when it finishes it just sits there and doesn't reboot.  When I look at the DS server I get the message "RDeploy: The EFI variable could not be read"

The image in question works on other machines, and other images I have tried also will not correctly install on this particular machine.  So the problem seems to be with the machine and not the image or DS.

I have no idea what this means, and judging from the google results I got on this (0) it is rare.  I would appreciate any ideas on what this could refer.

Turns out the computer was failing because of the unusual way this machine had been formatted in it's previous life.  I was trying to put down a image onto a hard drive that had been partitioned at one point as a GPT Disk, not the normal MBR Disk that I was expecting.  Only IA-64 machines can boot up off of a GPT Disk and this was not that kind of machine.

I had to boot up into WinPE and fix the Disk so that it was a MBR disk.  Once I did that, the image went down normally and configured as expected.
