Einzelne vmdk auf anderer virtueller Maschine wiederherstellen

Created: 30 Sep 2013 | 3 comments

This behaviour has still not changed. You can redirect restore the VM to another ESX box or datastore and take the vmdk file that you want manually and import it into the new VM.
Alternatively, you could restore the vmdk on the Media Server using folder redirection and then manually import it on the ESX box.VM redirection.jpg

Hello Nardino,

You can use the redirect restore option and restore the VMDK to the location on Media server. And then you can transfer the required VMDK to the datastore and attach to the required VM.

Hope this piece of Information Helps you... and if it does then mark this response as Solution....!!!

Hi Jaydeep S and Sush,

thank you for your suggestions.

Veeam (another backup solution) for example is able to restore a vmdk to a "foreign" virtual machine but Veeam isnt able to restore vmdk scheduled.

I try to automate this process and I would prefer a Backup Exec solution. May be I could run a command with vSphere CLI after the job is done.
