Hi,
if i eject a media, its still showing as an online media. when i restart the BE services (2012) it shows the correct status (no media). but after i insert another media, it still shows offline.
seems to me that the status is not updated. See my screenshot for more details

...and your media server is fully patched with SP1a and any additional patches?
Thanks!

How are you ejecting the Media? Directly through the hardware or are you ejecting the media through the backup exec admin console? Additionally are you using the manufacturers drivers or backup exec drivers on the device.
I hope this posting was helpful
When you use a stand-alone tape drive, ejecting or inserting a tape does not update the drive status in BE. You have to do an inventory of the drive to update the status in BE. It has been this way since forever.
So its not a bug, its a feature ;)
thinking about getting 2010 or another product since i read this thread:

This is not a BE 2012 "feature". It is like this since forever. I doubt any other backup software will be any different. When you eject or insert a tape into a stand-alone tape drive, it is a hardware function. The device will not know which software is controlling it and thus it is unable to notify the software of the status change.
