    <event date='06/24/2014 13:16:53.2060000 +02:00' severity='2' hostName='XXX' source='Software Update Agent UI' module='PatchMgmtAgentsUI.dll' process='AeXAgentUIHost.exe' pid='4588' thread='4668' tickCount='22832453' >
<![CDATA[Failed to get SoftwareUpdateAgent from Symantec Management Agent. Please check that the Software Update Agent policy is enabled]]>
    </event>
    <event date='06/24/2014 13:16:53.2530000 +02:00' severity='2' hostName='XXX' source='Agent' module='AeXNSAgent.exe' process='AeXNSAgent.exe' pid='1800' thread='5284' tickCount='22832500' >
<![CDATA[Failed to create object 'Altiris.SoftwareUpdateAgent': The object is not registered or is not present in the policy (0x8000401B)]]>
    </event>

    ¿Cuál puede ser el problema?

Muchas gracias de antemano por su atención.

    Un saludo,

    Hi,

did you check resource target of this "Default Software Update Plug-in Policy" ?

Does this PC is there? No problems with consumed amount of license nodes?

    Thanks,

    IP.

    Hi,

My "Default Software Update Plug-in Policy" is:

    Default_Sof_Update_Plug-In_Policy.gif

    Is there anything wrong?

    The licenses are OK.

    Thanks,

Make sure that your client computer with installed "Software Update Agent" is in "Windows Computers with Software Update Plug-in Installed" filter

    Hi,

Yes, our computers are in this filter, but in all computers the Software Updates tab shows "The software update plug-in is not ready".

    In clients logs:

We don't know what more review.

    Any idea?

    Thanks,

We have already seen this article.

The clients can't register and show that the software update tab is not ready.

We have checked this article too:

    Another idea?

You mean that only with this Software Update policy receving, it has such problem?

And other policies, like SMA settings, Maintenance Windows, etc are successfully received by client?

What says Altiris Log Viewer on SMP 7.5 Server, on attempt to receive policy?

Symantec Management Agent and other plug-ins are up-to-date?

Do you have there "Legacy Agent Communication" enabled on SMP Server?

    Hi,

The Software Update Plug-in Upgrade policy is receving by clients:

    AgentPolicyUpdate.jpg

Symantec Management Agent and other plug-ins are update:

    AgentPlugIns.jpg

The "Legacy Agent Communication" is enabled:

The errors in the SMP 7.5 log are the same than clients:

    Thanks,

Let's determine whether "Default Software Update Plug-in Policy" is delivered on client or not

    • Go to client computer, open cmd and execute this command line:

    C:\Program Files\Altiris\Altiris Agent\AeXNSAgent.exe /diags

    • Open Policy viewer, choose Altiris Software Update Agent:

    PolicyViewer.jpg

If policy is there, then try to:

    • C:\Program Files\Altiris\Altiris Agent\AeXAgentUtil.exe /RegisterClient

And finally, if issue still occurs, try to reset a Guid of your client computer:

    • C:\Program Files\Altiris\Altiris Agent\AeXAgentUtil.exe /ResetGuid

    Thanks,

    IP.

    Hi,

We have cloned the "Default Software Update Plug-in Policy", and we have seen that the "Default Software Update Plug-in Policy Target" appears with user local account, because the initial installation was with this user, and now the application uses the domain account:

    Default_Policy_Copy_0.JPG

If we applied this policy to another filter (FLT_CAU) we can checked that the software update tab is ready.

How can we solve this problem?

    Thanks,

    E.

    Hi!

These Owners are who has created these "Resource Targets".

    • Owner of "Default Software Update Plug-in policy Target" is an account, which was specified during upgrade/installation of CMS/ITMS Server and these default resource targets were created under him.
    • Owner of "....(FLT_CAU) Target" is an account, who has created this resource target.

You can remove unnecessary resource target from this policy and save changes, but very strange that default resource target "Default Software Update Plug-in policy Target" doesn't contain clients where "Software Update" plugin installed.

Also you can check what user is logged in now on SMP Console

    Thanks,

    IP.

Thanks Igor for your reply wink.

We need to know if it´s possible to change everything which was created during upgrade/installation of CMS/ITMS Server with local account to the other account (domain account), because we are going to work with the domain account. (We have the credentials of the two accounts, of course).

Another question: how can we get the Default Software Update Plug-in policy Target ? This target is hidden in the default policy. We have cloned again the default policy but there isn´t that target surprise.

    Thanks.

Why you want to change "Owner" for all resource targets from local account to domain account?

I think that you don't need to do this, because if your domain account are in "Symantec Administrators" role, then you will have access to all these targets, therefore there is no need to do this.

If you want to set default resource target or custom resource target to any cloned policy, then you need just:

    • Click "Apply To"
    • Click "Quick Apply"
    • Type some pre-defined name of required target -> click -> it will browse your target and click "Apply"

    DefaultSoftwareUpdateTarget.jpg

    Thanks,

    IP.

Ok, we believed that default target wasn´t need to set. We have now applied default target: count is 0 but if we update, we obtain results which can´t set (OK is not active):

    UpdateTargetPolticaDefecto.jpg

The problem is that the application can´t update the default target results (count 0) as we can do manually (70 resources selected), so we think is due to an incosistence between the local and the domain account.

Very strange that it doesn't populate...

If you want to make active "OK" button for default 'Default Software Update Plug-in Policy Target', then you will need to manually update its "Attributes" in SQL table:

    • SELECT Attributes FROM Item WHERE Name ='Default Software Update Plug-in Policy Target'

    By default "Attributes" = 274   {Therefore "OK" button is grayed out}

    • UPDATE Item
SET Attributes=1 WHERE Name='Default Software Update Plug-in Policy Target'

After manual update of Attributes, now you will be able to use "OK" button for this default target.

    EditTargetAttribute1.jpg

    Note:

Do not modify this default resource target 'Default Software Update Plug-in Policy Target'.

    Thanks,

    IP.
