    Hi,

I installed the mms server and installed the Microsoft Message Queuing Service.
So I don't need active sync to syncronise email, right? I have to use IMAP or POP? Or there are some other ways to provide emails to iPhones and iPads?

    Thanks

You can provide e-mail through Exchange ActiveSync, IMAP, or POP.  To provide through ActiveSync, go to the iOS Configuration Editor and create an EAS profile.  If you keep username and the following fields blank, a generic profile will be rolled out that inserts the username provided during enrollment.  To configure e-mail using IMAP and POP, create an Email profile within the iOS Configuration Editor.  In both cases, a blank username will fill in the validated username, append the domain, and all that the user will need to provide is a password.

    Does this answer your question?

    Yes of course.

Last year, I talked to an symantec employee and I understood, that Exchange Active Sync isn't required with the use of APNS push. ?!?!?!
First of all, I have to setup Active Sync at the Exchange Server and setup all the requirements at the MMS server. (Service Account, Exchange Admin Tools, etc.)

    Thanks

You are correct, ActiveSync is not required for APNS.  They are both completely seperate services.  APNS is Apple Push Notification Service which takes care of pushing any needed notifications to the device.  These can be either notifications that new email is available, new app updates are available, or there are new MDM commands that need to be executed (such as lock the device, or wipe the device).
