  • 1.  Email Configuration in Symantec Management Platform with Gmail

    1. Incoming Mail (POP3) Server - requires SSL:
    pop.gmail.com
    Use SSL: Yes
    Port: 995
Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server - requires TLS3 or SSL: smtp.gmail.com (use authentication)
    Use Authentication: Yes
    Port for TLS/STARTTLS: 587
    Port for SSL: 465
Account Name: your full email address (including @gmail.com or @your_domain.com)
Email Address: your email address (username@gmail.com or username@your_domain.com)
    Password: your Gmail password

This is what I found on Gmail's website to configure email through pop3. Has anyone encountered the scenario where someone is using Gmail hosted email with the Symantec Managent Platform? I attempted to setup SMP based on these configuration but it seems the options I require to fully configure this portion are not there.

You need the SMTP configuration for SMP

SMP only allows valid SMTP e-mail accounts.  You can try to provide the SMTP info for Gmail but the TLS encryption requirement may hose things up.

Did you try smtp.gmail.com, port 465, with username and password?  Otherwise you can try 587 for TLS but I've noticed Gmail + TLS has issues with such devices/programs requiring SMTP parameters (e.g. multifunction copiers).

I tried both ports but no go. I was informed that the way to resolve the issue is to create a SMTP through IIS and relay to gmail using SSL or TLS ports. I am goin to try that next. Thanks for the reply mclemson. I really appreciate your input.
