Emails blocked by Endpoint Protection
Updated: 21 May 2010 | 4 comments
After installing Endpoint Protection 11.0 onto server and clients, all email downloading to Outlook 2003 is now blocked. It downloads when I turn of the email protection but that kind of defeats the purpose of the program. This was replacing Norton Antivirus with which I had no problems with the email. Is there a setting I'm missing?

Did you also install the firewall component? If this is the case please check that you have allowed the correct ports to be open. Port 25 for e-mail.

De facto when AV does something, it starts jumping up and down, waving its arms, and shouting "Hey! I found a virus! Look at me! I'm soooo goooood!"

The MS Outlook policy of SEP is used to scan attached files in the incoming emails. It does not seem to look into the content of the email itself and scans incoming data as files and I'm assuming they've delegated that task (content scanning) wholly to another platform.
You should really check your firewall settings if you've blocked the ports used for email.
