I havent used Avamar since 3.4

with Avamar 5.0, we have any issue on it, does it ruyn smoothly likes as NBU 6.5. Does it backup data to physical library, I know avamar backs yp data to their virtual library, after that will it backs up to physical tapes or do we need to use NBU or networker to backup to physical tapes, also could recommend best book on it? I downloaded avamar admin & user guides from EMC website but I need to learn more on it, thanks.

Avamar is a standalone

Avamar is a standalone product, like puredisk is.

You can use avamar alone, like puredisk 6.6 or you can use the networker's client to write to avamar, which is something between netbackup PDDE and PDDO.

I recall that Avamar can work with netbackup as OST device.

So, yes you need netbackup or networker to duplicate backups from avamar to tapes.
