Emergency Adobe Flash Player 11.5.502.149

Created: 08 Feb 2013 | 15 comments

Adobe released this patch yesterday as an emergency patch to a known exploit.  I was wondering how long it will take to get into my altiris patch console?  How fast does symantec release these patches?  Can I force my NS server to go out and update?

Is there a place I can check or a way to get notified when symantec releases a patch for download by the NS?

I think they try and get them out withn 24 hours.

Subscribe to this RSS feed and there might be a HOWTO when the PMImport is revised:

I have subscribed to this Article:

It should notify me via email when a new pmimport.cab is released but it doesn't work.  I subscribled a while ago and still have never recieved an email.  I checked my junk folders.  I do get emails when people reply to my posts on symantec connect so why not my subscriprtion?

Is this what you've been waiting for:

"Adobe PMImport 7.0.1079.0 (February 2013 New Bulletin)"

...Adobe Flash Player Bulletin APSB13-04...

http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO83749

Came out about 20 mins ago, hopefully 7.1 will follow shortly. I wonder if they'll update HOWTO32527 and we'll get an email...

The patch has still not downloaded into my console.  Is there a place where I can check when these patches will be available in my patch console?  I would like to get it tested and out tonight.

You need to run PMImport using the Import Patch Data for Windows task at Tasks > Jobs and Tasks > System Jobs and Tasks > Software > Patch Management.  Click New Schedule and run Now.

I have been kicking it off that way periodically.  As far as I can tell the server gets it's patch information from here:

http://www.solutionsam.com/imports/7_1/patch/windows/pmimport.cab

There is no separate adobe pmimport.cab file it's just this one file for version 7.1 Sp1.

If you click on the link and manually download and open this file it lists every patch.  The APSB13-04 I'm looking for is still not in it as of the time of this post.  Does it usually take this long to get a patch out?  I did go to the version 7.0 pmimport.cab download locations and they have a separate file for adobe and it does include the patch.

http://www.solutionsam.com/imports/7_0/patch/adobe/pmimport.cab

Listed as PMImport_SWB_2013_2.xml

Why would they release it for version 7.0 and not 7.1 sp1 which is the latest version?

I must be missing something in the logic of their patch release process.  seems kinda backwards.  I can't find any document anywhere that completely describes the process for a patch release and any sort of way to be notified of a new patch release besides downloading the pmimport.cab file from the link above and looking for the patch I'm interested in.

I'm a little disappointed in the entire process but if I am missing something please enlighten me.

I've flagged this for support.  Hopefully someone can stop by and comment on why this bulletin is not available yet in 7.1 and shed some light on the process.

If you schedule a regular download of PMImport you can create an automation policy to notify you of new bulletins.

Can you elaborate on this a bit more? Do you have any instructions?

Still can't find any way to reliably get notified of a patch release for my NS.  It would be nice if you could get emailed when Symantec released a patch.  We do a PMimport once a day at night.  I think there is a way to get it to email you if it downloads anything new but if you are waiting for an emergency patch to come out that doesn't really help...

When patches aren't downloaded, Symantec told me to submit an idea.  As far as I can tell, the latest Flash updates haven't been released to 7.x customers yet.

While it's frustrating 5 days after a critical security patch is released it still isn't available to us, I can also respect that when it's released the command line works and there are no bugs because it was tested well by Symantec, rather than a rush job, which then would require to me put in a ticket if something isn't working as expected.

Vote up here if interested to bring attention to getting this one released (should be today it looks like)

I think the 7.0 update has been done but not 7.1.

Looks like Adobe Flash Player 11.6.602.167 is out now so look for that next instead of 11.5.x

I just found this thread and see that I'm not the only one having this problem.  Has anybody seen a change in their console for this update?  I'm about to run a manual import but wanted to see if you've had any luck....

FYI 11.6.602.168 was released in last nights PMImport, and I tested it as working.
