    Hello Experts

We have activated on our Symantec Mail Security 8100 the bounce attack prevention option, unfortunately, we also have gateways that are configured only for Outbound message traffic, no inbound message are allowed.

Today I have received a call from on my User witch use this gateway (Sendmail Gateway for Outbound) and he told me that he can’t send a mail to a spaceflight recipient, I have made a Telnet test with the remote gateway over the concerned Mail Gateway and have received the following error:

    250 mxin002.mail.hostpoint.ch Hellotestdomain.test [191.11.44.13]
    550-Verification failed for < noreply@testdomain.test >
    550-Called:   191.13.10.100
    550-Sent:     RCPT TO:< noreply@testdomain.test >
550-Response: 550 Bounce attack signature verification failed.
    550 Sender verify failed

I have called the mail administrator for the remote domain, and he told me that their mail gateway now allow only mails from our bounce attack activated mail gateway, can anybody tell me how I can integrate our Sendmail Gateway Server also in the bounce attack option? I thank you in advance for your help.

    regards
    Oezkan

We have a contracted 3rd party sending on our behalf and when the bounced come back to our MTAs, they of course fail the bounce back testing.

There should be an industry standard for generating the signatures, and only the secrete seed value would vary.
