Hi, we have been able to send encrypted emails no problem by using the encrypt button in Outlook, but it’s the replies which are not going back encrypted anymore.

What used to happen was when the email was decrypted by the recipient it would put a border around the email, saying it had been decrypted (attached).

So I created a policy that if an email had ‘PGP signed’ in the body it would encrypt it. And this worked for replies to encrypted emails because the border would show in the reply.

Now when sending an encrypted email, it is received by the recipient and they are asked for a password, but there is no border around the email after being decrypted. This means that the reply does not go back encrypted because it does not have ‘PGP Signed’ in the message.

Why does this border no longer show on decrypted emails?  Is there another way I could handle replies to encrypted messages, or a way to turn the border back on?

    Many Thanks

Please go to the Messaging tab of PGP Options, make sure Anotate Incoming Email is enabled, and that it is set to Maximum Verbose Annotation.

not sure what you mean by "border"

Email replys are a whole new email,  outlook just copy all history and subject on it.

So when you reply and encrypted email, make sure you enable pgp encryption again, using the button.

Thanks for your reply, I've attached how an encrypted email used to look before.  It put a blue border around the body and it had 'PGP signed' on it.

I created a policy which said if there is 'PGP signed' in the message body, encrypt the email.

This worked great for replies to encrypted emails.

It now doesnt put a border around the message body when it is decrypted. It does ask for the password, and is an encrypted email.

    Thanks for any advice

I've found a couple of users which we receive emails with the box around.

The only difference that I can find is that on the keys the one which works has the key...

    domain.co.uk as verified

But the ones which dont have the key...

    domain.co.uk as not verified

    How can I verify it?

There doesnt seem to be a way without deleting the services and keys from the users profile and starting again. Will this mean they wont be able to view old encrypted emails?

Or would it be ok as long as I dont delete the user from the server?

    Thanks

The user marks a key as being verified by signing it with his/her key.
