My laptop has died, and the hard drive was encrypted with Endpoint Encryption.  I have a replacement laptop on its way, but I need to able to gain access to the content of the drive (not all of it was backed up.

I have plugged the harddrive into another laptop and when entering my login details, It starts to load windows and then fails / restarts, I am presuming this is therefore linked to my old Laptop.

Is there anyway I can get access to the data ?

    All help is appreciated.....

The most important piece of information for this will be specific product and version.  You mentioned Endpoint Encryption, is it the 8.x series, or the 11.x series?

    The version is 8.2.1MP2

The 8.x series does tie into some hardware configuration for the encryption process, but all might not be lost.  Have you been able to try the Recovery or Access iso?  If not, the iso files required to burn to disk should be in the original download of the product.  If you don't have them you may need to call support to get them, as we do not have a public-facing repository for them.
https://support.symantec.com/en_US/article.TECH104300.html is the best practice for recovery document.

You could also potentially create a customized WinPE for recovery, technote here:

For it to be an officially supported process for the SEE 8.x series, the drive would need to be in the original hardware.  In the case of an event with a motherboard failure, etc, the drive may not be recoverable.

after reading your post, this is my concern as the original laptop isnt working as it needs a new motherboard, however, I am getting a replacement laptop instead (same model).

Am I presuming that non of the option suggested would work if it is not in the original laptop ?

Hi there, any further advice on this one please.  I have my new laptop and although I can get past the login, windows wont load....

I get a blue screen before the PC then restarts

What are your results from trying to use the recovery and access isos?  At this point they are really your best hope.  If you need those, they should come bundled with your installation software.  You should be able to get them through Fileconnect if you don't have them, just download your current version of SEE again.
