Encrypted USB disk on another computer?

Created: 21 Aug 2014 • Updated: 22 Aug 2014 | 3 comments
This issue has been solved. See solution.

I have installed an evaluation version of Symantec Encryption Desktop, and created an encrypted disk on a USB disk.

When I connect the USB disk to another computer, I get an error message telling me that the disk has no recognizable file system and I am asked if I want to format the disk.

My question is: Is this normal – or is there any way that this disk can be used on other computers?

AJ_01 is correct.  You will need Symantec Encryption Desktop installed on the second machine to access the drive.  If you encrypted the drive to a key as opposed to a passphrase, you will also need to transfer your keys over to the second machine.
