    Hello,

I have an existing public Key that was created and used with PGP version 6.5.  All we use it for is to allow our business customers to encrypt text files, so that they can be emailed to the bank and decrypted.  I believe this was the version of PGP before Symantec bought it.  i downloaded the trial version of Symantec Encryption Desktop, but i cannot get it to work.  I need help with the following.

    1.  how do i get my exiting keys acivated and verified.  (so that the grey ball turns green with a check mark)

    2.  after the keys are activated and verified, how do i simply ecrypt a .txt file?

    Hi, gjv

If your old keys have been created wit the version 6.5 (no longer supported) I would strongly advice you to create a new one as there were lots of changes since then.

To be able to verify them you may try to use the following KB's but again I can't let you know the result with this old version.

HOW TO: Verify PGP keys in PGP Desktop 10 for Windows

HOW TO: Upload a key to the PGP Global Directory (Windows)
