My Laptop has been recently installed with PGP, as i was not able use my external hard disk, i tried to encript it so that i can use it in future. it has been running for more than 12 hrs.I have few questions-

what would happen if i cancel the encription before it completes?will it damage my external disk?

if i encriprt, can i use it in any other systems?

can i decrypt it back for normal use?

    Hi,

Can you please confirm the PGP Edition.

And yes, you can use PGP WDE to encrypt an external or removable device (say a USB flashdrive or a firewire disk).  Such an encrypted disk can be moved to another machine with PGP WDE installed and accessed.  You will need the appropriate credential (key or passphrase).

Also this is the issue you are facing & it's solution,

Excessive time to encrypt disk - PGP Whole Disk Encryption:

    Hope this helps you!!

version installed on my Laptop is PGP desktop 10.0.0.

i had to cancel the encryption as it was running for whole night and had to pack myself to work. do you think the external disck would have got corrupted and what is the solution?

Why were you not able to use your external disk?  Unless you are in a PGP Universal managed setting that requires all computers to have external disks encrypted, the encryption status of your external disk would not affect whether or not your could use it.
