    Encryption Server v 3.3.2 MP7 & Encryption Desktop 10.3.2 MP7

Our Daily email report shows data we know to be inaccurate; (ie.) Amount processed is about half of actual processed mail, Encrypted today should never be (0) zero, Total encrypted is at 13 for over 30 days, Total decrypted should also not be at (0) Zero.

How can I go about getting the logs to report the proper data?

    Hi Jaruiz,

Need few more information on the server configuration.

    1. The server is in which placement mode (Internal or Gateway)?
    2. Are you using Symantec Encryption Desktop?
    3. Are you using Web Messenger on the server?

It looks like you have external users, and are using Web Email Protection.  Note that it will 'process' those emails, but the actual message is not 'encrypted', it is stored on the server while a link is sent via email letting the external party know they have mail.

Encrypted should only refer to messages where a valid key was found, and the message was encrypted at the server before passing out of the network.

If messages are processed (encrypted) by Symantec Encryption Desktop, they would effectively be a 'normal' mail as far as the server is concerned, as the server itself is not processing it.

The same goes for decryption.  If messages are decrypted on the desktop by the Outlook plugin, the server did not decrypt them, so it will show no stats for decryption.  Those are only for mail which was decrypted at the management server level.

    Hi Mike,

You are correct re: external users and the use of Web Email Protection. You're explanation was straight forward, thank you. I've recently been asked to get an understading of the SES setup as I've never had to manage it before. I've been going over the Online manual and have a much better understanding of the SES, but I still do have a some questions that I could not find searching the support forum.

Re: the 13 messages that show up encrypted on my daily report, is this because a key was found on the PGP global server and sent it to directly without needing the Web Email Protection?

Our mail server shows about double of what the SES is reporting for processed mail. Any insight as to why?

The mail server would also process any administrator emails sent from the server as well, like the daily status report that is typically sent to an administrator.  The server wouldn't count this as a processed email, but it would still show as processed by Exchange when received.
