  • 1.  Encryption server restore to Hyper-V VM

Here is my scenerio.  I have Symantec Encryption Management Server 3.3.2 MP8 installed on a stand alone HP server.  It works fine but I want to move it to a Windows Server 2012R2 Hyper-V VM.  I create the new VM and install SEMS from the IOS file and everything looks okay.  When I log into the web interface and choose "Restore" option and select my key and config backups I can wait for hours and nothing.  When I reboot the VM it restarts and then I get an error that "eth0 has a different MAC address than expected".  It finishes stating but have no connectivity because the eth0 port is not active.  I can restart again and it just says that there is no config file for eth0.  I even tried using the same static MAC address in the VM switch settings as the machine I'm trying to restorw from.

I have built a clean SES server on the same Hyper-V host and have it clustered with my stand alone SES server and it works fine.

    Am I missing something?

    Thanks,

    Gregg

There is an ongoing feature request for this. So, it is currently not a configuration that we recommend.

The current recommended configuration would be to use ESX/ ESXI hypervisors for virtualization.
