hi! In my enviroment, i've installed endpoint 11.0 management console in one of the server (single site) and all my PCs (about 500) have been installed by the endpoint client. Recently i've found that the management console and content folders are growing and taking more than 90% of my hardisk space.

I'm thinking of uninstalling it and re-install with the latest version of Endpoint 11. My question is do i need to re-install all my endpoint clients? Once the management console is installed, will the client PCs installed with the older version of endpoint 11.0 be able to discover in the endpoint server?

What would be the advise in this?

    Thanks.

If you'll retain all the settings (IP Address/Computer Name, etc). You'll just fool the clients into thinking that the server was down.

    Hi

Yes your clients will find your new SEPM server as long as you are using the same ip and name as mon.rarakio is writing, and have made a backup.

BUT you have to do a backup of your DB, this is really importen!! Please read these documents before unistallation.

hi! Thanks for the reply.....if i'm uninstalling the 11.0 version and install with a fresh copy of the latest MR4 ver? do i still need to do the backup of the old copy in order for my client pc to be able to connect back to the endpoint svr? As it's a fresh install that's mean i do not need to restore the database from this backup right?

The reason is that, we might be using the embedded db for the new endpoint, whereas currently we're using sql2005 (for the older version 11.0, i think it's advisable to use a dedicated db for enviroment that will grow more than 500 nodes, that's the reason i'm using that).

    Pls advise. Thanks.

YES, all your conf and communitationn settings are stored in DB, so you need to do the backup and restore.

Otherwise you will need to go to every single of your clients and connect them afterwards.

    No problem swithing DB.

But don't know what will happen if the the backup is from a older version and you apply it on mr4, maybe there could be a conflict with some skema changes.

You should check this out, if you can't get a clear answer, I would install the same version you have now, restore the backup and the upgrade,

Or if you have room enough on the server, do the upgrade, make a backup and the restore.

Remember those files mention in those backup guides.
