i believe i miss read the upgrade paths for 11 -> 12, and thought i had to make sure i was on the latest version of 11 (11.0.7300.1294) to upgrade to version 12.1.1000.157.... only to read somewhere else that this version doesnt upgrade inline?

did i put myself between a rock and a hard place?

when i attempt to run an inline upgrade the first part runs fine, but when it says its going to start the upgrade wizard thats where it never starts. im able to roll back to just before my upgrade, but no further....

any direction would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi,

Even though you have upgrade to the latest version of SEP 11.x. You can upgrade to SEP 12.1 RU2.

If you are "locked in" to the upgrade to 12.1, then you have an issue.  However, if you upgrade from 11.x to 12.1.1 or 12.1.2, there is no problem.  I was on 11.0.6 mixed with 11.0.7 and upgraded cleanly to SEP 12.1.1 (12.1 RU1) with no problem and then upgraded to 12.1.2 (12.1 RU2) when it came out.  No real issues.  I would suject skipping 12.1 and go straight to RU1 or RU2 using the links provided by other users.  Start with the SEPM, then GUPS, if you you have them, then the clients.  Except for a few clients that had remnants of very old SAV versions, the automated upgrade went fine.  The rest I did push installs.
