Hi All,

Some of my SEP clients failed to download virus definition from Internet.... My Liveupdate Server also failed to download virus definitions

i have upgrade my SEPM manager and Liveupdate Server to the latest version...

anyone can assist?

What i can do now is download the virus defnition and install on each affected client manually..

Is there a msi file for virus definition?I can use GPO to roll out


As for Liveupdate server,is there a way to download the definition and install manually?

Anyone can provide me a guide to unistall the Liveupdate server and install again?

You cannot update LU admin using manual update like JDB file

Hi Rafeeq,

I ran the firewall check.I managed to download the zip file. I have two schedules for my LUA ....one is for virus definitions and another is for others definitions which is working well. Therefore my firewall is not blocking..


Can i just uninstall the LUA from add/remove programs and install back again?

Will it affected my SEPM ?

Please advise..

 it wont affect your sepm.
once installed, configure lu in sepm admin servers tab
download the definitions

According to LUA installation guide,it requires java 1.5..but mine is java 6 Update 18.

is it ok?

remove java , it would install when u install LUadmin i guess.
should not be a problem. 

 java 6 Update 18 is ok.
For installing LUA you should have Java installed first.Then install latest version of LUA(Currently it is 2.2.2.9 in believe )

Under LUA event log tab,

Failed to download file 1268057638jtun_nav2k8en100224009.m25 while processing request id 5.

Failed to download file 1267831593jtun_nav2k8en100226049.m25 while processing request id 5.

1263522034jtun_content_catalog_11_0_def_issue11_0_3001_1106.zip while processing request id 6.

Reconfigure your LUA according to below doc
Downloading and hosting the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager (SEPM) 2010 definitions patch via LiveUpdate Administrator 2.x (LUA 2.x) and LiveUpdate Administration Utility 1.x (LUAU 1.x) 

Check you Java version. It should be above 1.5.If mismatch Java version will affect the downloading.

mine java is java 6 Update 18.


where to download java 1.5?

you can find that in your sepm folder
 C:\Program Files\Symantec\SEPM\jdk\bin

For LUA 2.2.2.9 it should be java 6 or above.My LUA is running with java version java 6 Update 18. and LUA is 2.2.2.9 .So no issues with Java version.If you want you can reinstall it.First you try by reconfiguring it. 

since Java 6 Update 18 is supported by LUA 2.2.2.9, i will reconfigure my LUA download schedule.

actually i have updated all the Symantec Producut Catalog for LUA....

i will monitor the outcome tonight...and update u all guys..
