Hi, I have installed the SEP11 and from some problem which is similier to this:

    https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/central-reporting-server-sep-11

I have several divisions in our department(Different domsins) and each division have several offices. When I was in Anti-Virus 10 I was able to view all clients but in SEP 11 I can only to see the clients in the same domain.

Is there any way I can see all the clients like it was in SAV10???

    Thanks.

The domain which you are finding in SEPM console is different from windows domains. These domains are created with in SEPM.Do you really created different domains inside SEPM for different divisions?if no you can view all clients from same console. You can group the clients as per your administrative requirements. You can see all the clients in the same group in the same screen. But anyway you can not see the clients from different clients from different groups in same screen in SEP11.

    Thanks for your reply AravindKM.

The way I setup the SEPM is:

    1) I setup 1 main SEPM (Named AA) for entire department which also used as LU server to connect to Symantec.

    2) Each division setup their own SEPM (Named BBs) to manage their own clients. These SEPMs (BBs) get updates from the dept server (AA). I can manage all the clients within that division.

    3) For the divisions don't have SEPM installed, their clients report to the dept. SEPM (AA). I can manage those clients through SEPM (AA).

    My question is :

    a) I can see the clients in the divisions' SEPM (BBs) but is there a way I can see or manage the entire dept's clients at the dept's SEPM (AA)??

    b) If the clients in the divisions got infacted, can the report sent to the departmant server (AA)??

    Thanks.

P.S. Sorry for making it so complicated. I can draw a picture if you need.wink

there is no relationship between AA and BB? BB just talkes updates frm AA ,nothign other than that right?

u can create domains ( sepm ) and then do the install. check this discussion.

    http://www.symantec.com/connect/forums/question-about-endpoint-protection-quotdomainsquot

if all the sepm are talking to same db then u can create automatic report if they get infected.

BB only get updates from AA (as the setup now).

If I create a domain in AA, what the BBs should be?? (Replicate server??) Will I be able to see all the clients from AA?? (In all the BBs)

    Thanks.

    I got confused now :)

If you create domains in SEPM.

    you can switch between domains

if you go to admin - domains and select AA , u will see AA clients, simillarly with BB domain ( this is sepm domain ONLY)

    HI,

The reason I don't want to create multi domains is those BB servers are either old or not enough space to install the SEPM in.

I'm trying to use 1 server to manage most of the clients in the main building. We also have some remote offices which use T1 to connect. I'm worrying about if I install the SEPM onto those servers it may jam up the network when the server need to get the updates.

In this case, you make BB as replication to AA...make them to replicate only once in a week..Bw will also be low..

    Hi,

I installed the "Group Provider" option and is working.

But I want to know how it can tell if the client is getting updates from " Group Provider" and not the management server??

    Thanks.

You can create a sylink log or check in registry
