My company is now implementing Endpoint Encryption 7.0.6 on Windows 7 Pro 32-bit systems.  I'd like to add a specific laptop to my office, but have been told that it's incompatible with SEE.  It's the Toshiba Tecra A11-S3531.  Apparently, USB ports are disabled.  Can anyone tell me definitively if this has been fixed, and/or whether the specific laptop is now compatible with SEE?  Thanks.

Who gave you the information that it's incompatible? I can't see anything in the release notes about that specific laptop but USB ports have been an issue before. Are you talking about full disk encryption or removable storage?

Got everything installed (loaded Win 7 Pro 32-bit, as required), and everything worked great -- even Endpoint Protection.  Then installed SEE 7.0.6.  Installation reported as successful, but when I tried to log in, system completely powered down; didn't matter whether I entered correct login info, or no info at all (after about 15-20 seconds, power-down just happened).  Reloaded OS and all the other apps -- again without issue -- and started SEE again.  At the suggestion of my company's tech support folks, let it get 13% complete, shut down as normal, tried to restart, and the same powering down occurs.  Toshiba can't tell me anything, and Symantec doesn't show our company (Fortune 300) as having a support contract, so they can't/won't tell me anything.  If this isn't resolved, I'll be returning the nice, new computer . . .

Well if you haven't paid for support, why should they give you support? Some questions: - Does the power down happen once then render the computer unusable or is it the same every time you reboot? - Does safe mode work? - Can you get to the event logs (either by above or a third party tool) to see what is reported? - It sounds like there might be a conflict with something else, maybe a toshiba security tool or something? Try just installing the OS without all the bits and pieces, or removing stuff and doing SEE first. Always best to start with SEE

Ive had similar issues in the past with Sophos on Tosh laptops and it ended up being the Toshiba Build CD.  Build with a Microsoft XP CD and all worked fine.
