Endpoint Encryption Device Control and Windows 7 64bit sp1

Created: 11 Sep 2012 • Updated: 11 Sep 2012 | 1 comment

Hi, I'm having problems with EE Device control (8.2.0) and windows professional 7 64bit sp1. Basically Administrator suspend only works if the pc is rebooted, otherwise the (for example) inserted CD just hangs the PC. Same on lots of types of Dell (laptops and desktops)

I'm pretty sure it was OK before sp1.

Any ideas?

Please log a call with Symantec Support to investigate this issue.

We encountered a similar issue for a customer, whereby the use of optical drives can cause explorer.exe to hang.  Unlike your situation however, this happened to any machine installed with SEE-DC, regardless of whether or not blocking was enabled (just installing it with no restrictions was enough to generate the issue).

Symantec Support were able to provide beta client, that appeared to resolve the issue.  I do not know when/if this will be released, so you will have to give them a bell.
