I'm planning an Endpoint Protection 7.0.5 installation.  Does anyone know of a reason why I should not install the SEE Management Server on an existing Endpoint Protection Manager server?  I'd prefer not to build out another server if I don't have to.

Always and as a good pratise you should upgrade your see 704 server to 705 -- I don;t see any fun in installing see 705 on a new server. This will create confusion -- let me tell you how --

you have 704 running -- this server will have its own set of keys that clients will have and they will talk back to the server. now if you install 705 on another server then it'll have itz own set of keys. now if you upgrade a client machine that has 704 to 705 -- see version will get updated but the client machine will not talk to the 705 server --- then you need to change keys and unnecessarily go into complications.

keep your setup simple and clean - this will help you. Upgrade the see 704 to 705 -- create client packages and push them to the client machines. client machines will check in without any issue

Thank you very much for your comments.

However, I just re-read my post, and I made a mistake in what I wrote.  I meant to say that I'm installing Endpoint Encryption 7.0.5 (for the first time) and would like the server component to reside on the same server as an existing Endpoint Protection Manager install.

Has anyone had any troubles with this?

I am a little confused here -- correct me if I am wrong do you want to encrypt the client machine that is also a manager computer ???  I mean you install all the see encryption components on a member server -- you donot have to disperse them on different servers.

You can install see server framework/HDD/ one time password on your xp machine and can manage See without having to logon to the server. This machine (see manager computer) we can encrypt too .....

let me know it this answers your question

    Hi jwc,

I'm running SEPM and SEEM servers together on Windows Server 2003. SEP manager is 11MR4 and SEE manager is 7.0.4 at present. Everythings been running fine for over 6 months. The only issue I've had before was when upgrading from SEE management 7.0.3 to 7.0.4 where for some reason the installer deleted the entire \Symantec\ registry key as part of the upgrade, so maybe just make sure you backup the key prior to doing any upgrades etc. Otherwise no problems...

    Hope that helps,
    David
