    Hi,

I have a question about Symantec Endpoint Encryption.

Im running the trial software for some weeks now Symantec Endpoint Encryption Manager + several clients.
We now purchased several licenses for this product and i have been told earlier that i need to deinstall the trial en install the licensed software, however i only recieved a serial number no .slf files like with other Symantec products.
Can someone tell me what to do when upgrading from a trial to a purchased version before i start all over again :)

Also another simple question about Encryption: if a user logs in to a machine thats encrypted, is it decrypted then? And when a user logs out is encrypted again?

    Thanks,

    LEVD

    hi,

In Symantec Endpoint Encryption you don't apply .slf file, it's rather a paper license. The reason for reinstalling is the End User License Agreement (EULA) you accepted installing the trial version, where it says this is for evaluation purpose only - not production.

To answer your second question, when the disk is encrypted and you authenticate to it, the decryption key is loaded so the access to the data is available. When you logoff, decryption key is not anymore available so your data is encrypted.

    Hi w-d,

Thank you for anwering my questions.

Can you tell me if reinstalling Symantec Endpoint Encryption Manager reconnecting to my existing DB and leave the webservices intact will do the trick?

    hi,

I haven't test it but you should be able to reconnect to your database in order to keep the settings
