    Hello

When logging in to my server using RDP I "sometimes" have Endpoint crash.

The following is logged in the event viewer:

The server {EE68EAFC-BF28-4017-8A92-D17DACF0B459} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.

Unable to start a DCOM Server: {EE68EAFC-BF28-4017-8A92-D17DACF0B459}. The error:
    "5"
    Happened while starting this command:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection\ProtectionUtilSurrogate.exe {EE68EAFC-BF28-4017-8A92-D17DACF0B459} -Embedding

Faulting application ProtectionUtilSurrogate.exe, version 11.0.4010.14, time stamp 0x49869c2f, faulting module ccL60U8.dll, version 106.3.8.4, time stamp 0x494aee11, exception code 0x40000015, fault offset 0x000420e8, process id 0x289c, application start time 0x01c9f01082d01015.

Anyone else have this ? and any resolution ?

    Thank you

    what is the OS?

Did you check the scm-server-0.log for the error w.r.t. timestamp

    Cheers
    Pete

You will get the logs under which ever drive you have installed the SEPM go to that drive and open

Program files/Symantec/Symantec Endpoint protection Manager/Tomcat/Logs you will get the logs over there

The only errors I can see in scm-server-0.log:

    at java.util.TimerThread.run(Timer.java:462)
com.sygate.scm.common.communicate.CommunicationException: Failed to connect to the server.

Make sure that the server is running and your session has not timed out.
If you can reach the server but cannot log on, make sure that you provided the correct parameters.
If you are experiencing network issues, contact your system administrator. ErrorCode: 0x80020000

    at java.util.TimerThread.run(Timer.java:462)
    2009-06-14 04:56:52.306 SEVERE: Unknown Exception in: com.sygate.scm.server.util.securitydata.VirusData
java.io.FileNotFoundException: D:\Program Files (x86)\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\tomcat\temp\null (The system cannot find the file specified)

com.sygate.scm.common.communicate.CommunicationException: Failed to connect to the server.

Make sure that the server is running and your session has not timed out.
If you can reach the server but cannot log on, make sure that you provided the correct parameters.
If you are experiencing network issues, contact your system administrator. ErrorCode: 0x80020000

The timestamp of 2009-06-14 04:56:52 is obviously wrong.

What is the OS from which you are taking the RDP is it VISTA if yes then try with XP & see if you still get the same error.
Also Does your terminal server has SEP on it?

    Hi

This is SBS 2008. I am RDPing using XP. SBS 2008 is setup for Remote Administration not as an application server.
