After Endpoint is pushed to clients, XP boxes when asked to update windows redirect to the windows for mac update. after doing clean install on xp box and verifying win update works, immediately after endpoint is pushed down, windows redirects its update its MAC update site.

the windows update works after doing a clean install. nothing else is added. if I then do a push down (using find umanaged clients) from server management console, then go back and try windows update, it then redirects to the windows update site for mac products...cannot access wndows update (XP, server 2003) no matter what I do except set automatic update.

    I have tried to:

..uninstall/reinstall endpoint, use "total removal" tool
..clear hosts file (only loopback used)
    ..clear post platform from registry
..clear all cache, cookies, etc. from browser
    ..uninstall, reinstall browser
    ..beads and rattles
    ..uninstalling apps

this one really has got me...

    thank you for your help
    John

    Vikram,

ONLY endpoint clients on XP or 2003 are affected BTW.

Try installing any other AV on these system like Malwarebytes ( its free ) etc,,just to make sure is it because of any AV or just SEP..It can be due a threat..as it is blocking windows update and it should also block definitions updates but can't understand why after installing SEP.

I'm having the same issue. When I try going to Windows Updates via IE8 Tools menu, I get the following error:

"This website is designed to work with Microsoft Windows operating systems only.
To find updates for Microsoft products that are designed for Macintosh operating systems, please visit http://www.microsoft.com/mac/.
Thank you for your interest in obtaining updates from our site. "

I did find that if I disable SEP I can successfully go to the Windows Updates via IE8. How can I allow Windows Updates to work with SEP Enabled????

Thank you Vikram for your help and I do not understand either, but when endpoint was removed issue went away. Where endpoint was reinstalled, issue came back.

However...there is a registry hack needed first, then remove endpoint, hack won't do it alone.

You must delete these to keys first:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\5.0\User Agent

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows \CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\5.0\User Agent

    ...then remove endpoint.

Experimenting on test server verified this. Got techs doing workaround for reinstallation of endpoint to clients...

    Hope this helps others...

This was apparently not caught in pre-release testing?
Apparently folks don't go run Windows updates after installing other software.
That's in our testing routine. If you install something ESPECIALLY things like AV that can block or hinder software changes, you always attempt multiple windows updates.

I don't think I'm going to push very hard to install this until I monitor the forums here and do a whole lot of testing first.
