We have several sbs2008 domains with endpoint protect manager and clients installed. However the clients do not appear in the manager and they do not update. Is this a common problem / does anyone know of a fix for this?

There's no issue with 2008 SBS atleast with the latest 11.0.5002.333 version.
If still the clients are not communicating then first thing you should check is the windows firewall on these servers.

Please disable  the WINDOWS FIREWALL as by default it is on on 2008.

    Hi Carl,

Are you running SEP 11 or SEP 12?  SEP 12 is especially designed for Small Business Servers.  I have it running on my Windows 2008 SBS without any difficulties, though as Vikram noted above SEP 11 RU5 should work fine as well.

I recommend checking the SEP client logs.  Often times, there will be listings there about what has gone wrong in communciation.

    Thanks and best regards,

    Mick
