When I boot up I get notification that I am not protected.  When I go to SEP it says file system auto  protect is disabled.  I open SEP and hit FIX but nothing happens.  Right now the SEP shield says its disabled.  What might be my problem?

thanks

a malware or a corrupted installation

Hi,

usually your issue is due to a corrupted installation, some times caused by a malware.
Try to download the rapid release definitions and run a full scan in safe mode.
Eventually try to repair the installation via the control panel.

Can be corrupt defs

Auto Protect can also malfunction because of the corrupted definitions...NAVENG.SYS and NAVEX15.SYS are the two drivers inside the dated defs folder of  "c:\program Files\Common Files\symantec Shared\VirusDefs" that make up the auto protect. Also try running the Rx4Defs, that might help.......

De facto when AV does something, it starts jumping up and down, waving its arms, and shouting "Hey!  I found a virus!  Look at me!  I'm soooo goooood!"
