Hello i was at a friends place who i have been tring to convinced to get a symantec product for there pc... So we were still on the process.. on getting there yesterday, i noticed they now had Endpoint protection on there pc, So the question i'd like to ask is... Is it ideal for one to install endpoint on a single pc? i dont think the Endpoint Protection on the computer is installed as unmanaged, if it was installed as unmanaged then i know that is possible.... but in these case i dont think so, So i'd like to know how possible it is to instll Endpoint Protection on a computer if it is  not installed as unmanaged.

installer, you are prompted to select "managed" or "unmanaged". If you select "managed", you have to specify a server name at that time or copy a sylink.xml file later (only two of a few possibly ways) to redirect it to a server.

Does it have a 'green dot' on the shield icon? If not, then it is not managed, and it is pointing towards the default Symantec Liveupdate site for definitions.

    Hi,

You can open the SEP client interface. Then go to Help & Support-> Troubleshooting

In this page, check if you have "self managed" written in front of server. If you do, then its an unmanaged client.

If you have an IP address/ offline written in front of the "server" then its a managed client.
