  • 1.  Endpoint Protection 11 server failing - attempting to install on new

    Hello all:

The machine I've been running Endpoint Protection Manager 11.X on is failing. It is running Win XP SP3 and when I previously tried to upgrade that machine to EP 12, the install errorred out that it could not be installed on that machine (because of WinXP?).  My company has since purchased a new machine to replace the failing one. It is running Win7 Pro SP1.  EP 11.x would not install under Win7 on that machine. Installer errors out with a simple error of it "cannot be installed".  I then figured I would just do a clean install of EP 12.  EP 12 installed ok and is now running under trial period.  I have my license file (*.slf) for EP 12, but when I try to install the license it tells me it is expired and will not load.  Are we required to now upgrade to a newer product to continue protection?  What is the newer product?

If EP 11.x is running fine on the old server without errors and no error that the license has expired, how do I migrate/transfer the EP console and server to the new machine?

    Regards:

    William

You will need to aquire a new 12 SLF from from our customer care department. Once you have this file you should be able to load it into your new install without issue.

    Hello,

I agree with the Advice above.

However, before you contact the Customer care, try working on this Article below:

After installing Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1 on a machine, you receive a warning that the trial license has expired even though the SEPM has an active non-trial license.

    Hope that helps!!
