one of my endpoint protection clients collects virus definitions for 2 weeks now. there are about 5-6Gb old defs on this client and i am also unable to delete them manually.

the client is also my management server but I dont think thats the problem. we are running a SBS 2008.

I have no idea what to do or where to find a working solution.

Hello Patrick,

Could you please assist us with the Full version # of SEP SBE you are running on the machine?

I have seen a couple instances of this.

One easy trick usually resolves the problem:

Check how often the SEP 12.1 client on those servers is running a scheduled scan.

Is it daily?  If the scan running when LiveUpdate has its session?

Simply changing the frequency of scheduled scans from daily to weekly will enable LiveUpdate to run smoothly and delete the old definition sets.

If you do have an open case about the issue, please do PM me the number.

I will get in touch with the Tech Support Engineer who is looking into the case and provide them with some extra info that will help.  &: )

Extra note: Please do upgrade to SEP 12.1 RU2 (incase you are using an older version of SEP SBE)

Also, check these Articles:

SOLUTION

Hey,

the client is running version 12.1.1101.401.

The management software is 12.1 RU1 MP1.

Because of the quick solution Manish showed me, there are no definitions left.

If the problem comes back on i will try your hints.

The aktuell settings are: Liveupdate every 4 hours und scans daily.

Need any further details?
