EndPoint protection Help

I have a Windows 7 Pro client that became infected. I unplugged the system and took it home to repair. I used the Endpoint Recovery Tool with rapid release dated July 2, 2011. The tool found the virus and "resolved" the issue.

However, I want to run a second scan using the Endpoint Protection (v. 11.0600.550) installed on the workstation. However since the workstation is away form the server it can not update. The Live Update button is greyed out.

I went ahead and downloaded the .exe for the rapidrelease (symrapidreleasedefsv5i32.exe) however this is failing due to the following error(s)

 

Sun Jul 03 09:20:44 2011 : REG FAILURE: Failed while reading the value for key named
Sun Jul 03 09:20:44 2011 : IGNORE ENTRY: Ignoring entry for VIRSCAN.zip because of registry read failure. Error occurred while reading the path for the Authorization DLL from the registry.
Sun Jul 03 09:20:44 2011 : IU failed while deploying V because a compatible product could not be found on the system. Please make sure that a compatible Symantec product is installed on the system.

 

I re-ran the rapidrelease as administrator but that failed as well. Any suggestions?

 

One option that is coming to mind is to uninstall Endpoint protection, reinstall, update, run full scan and when I take back to network import communication settings. I'm just wondering if there is a way to update without having to uninstall.

Hi,

Maybe you are trying to install the 32 bit rapid defs into a 64 bit system...

Hi,

 

Do a repair reinstallation. It will fix this issue. It will update the SEP with latest Virus definitions.

You can run the scan and make sure that there are no viruses in your computer.
