This issue has been solved. See solution.

Hi,

now we are using Symantec System Center Antivirus 10.1 in our infrastructure.

We would like to migrate to Endpoint Protection for better management and security reasons as we need to protect server and client computers. How this product is licensing? can we cover any licenses from Symantec System Center Antivirus in order to use Endpoint Protection.

Could we install Endpoint Protection on windows 2008 server as Symantec System Center Antivirus does not support windows 2008 yet?

thanks
aurimas

Are you referring to SEP 11 or

Are you referring to SEP 11 or SEP 12 SBE?
For SEP 11 it is just a paper license, for SEP 12 SBE you need the license file. The current versions of both of these products support 2008 server.

BTW, this forum is for SEP 12 SBE.

Best,
Thomas

Hi

You dont need any kind of licensing file in SEP 11, its just the paper license you get frm the licensing department. You can use SEP 11 without any problem with license. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Does Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.0 require a license file?

If you are looking for SEP

If you are looking for SEP 11 ( and not SEP 12 SMall Business Edition )
then you don't need any SLF files. However Licenseing is not the same of SAV and SEP. SAV cannot be used for SEP. You need to contact licensing folks and check if you will get free upgrade to you need to buy it.

Hi, I strongly recommend you

Hi,

I strongly recommend you to get in touch with the licensing team of Symantec and discuss the same with them.
