  • 1.  Endpoint Protection Manager - Security Status Details (Clients Showing Up that Shouldn't)

    Posted Jun 21, 2010 11:24 AM
I have SEP 11, and when I go to the Manager, click on Home, and then under Security Status, click on 'More Details', I see that under 'Antivirus Definition Failures' there are clients listed here that haven't received updates in a while. The problem is, when I go to my clients list, I can't find these clients. I even ran a search for them, but can't find them anywere. Is there something that I've missed, some refresh that I haven't done that would make these old clients disappear from this list?

    Thanks!

if the client is not in network and even then you are getting warnings ?

navigate to admin -servers - local site - under logs option
check delete clients not connected to network to a lesser value (default is 30)
    it wil delete the clients.

if mgr is showing incorrect info then please upgrade ;it was bug in earlier info

I checked, and the checkbox is checked to have them removed after 30 days. I'm running EPM with the most recent updates, so I'm not sure why there are a couple of clients that are apparently still checking in for updates periodically, even though I can't find them in the list of clients. If they were manually removed from the list, would this cause them to show up in the 'failed to update list' if they've been checking in after they were removed?

You need to check if the clients are in network
take a client from the list and do a remote desktop; check if that reporting to the manager ( u should see green dot on the taskbar with symantec endpoint installed)
once thats done ; open help and support of the client interface and check the group its reporting too.
the client might be in user mode
    in sepm
under clients - select the display filter, check offline and user mode clients
do a search ; you should be able to see the clients.

I checked a client and made sure it's reporting to my management server. I checked the server group, and it's there, with the little green dot. I checked the view filter, and it was set to show both users and computers.

I guess what concerns me is that I have this computer that's not listed in my active directory or the client list showing up, with a green dot, showing a Login Client of a user who doesn't work at my company anymore. I'd just like to know where this thing is, and if I can get rid of it.

Ha! I found it. Or at least, it found me. I kept sending it 'restart client computers' commands, and someone called me to tell me that their computer kept rebooting itself. Probably not the nicest thing to do, but it worked.
