I purchased endpoint protection small business.  My plan was to install the management console on my windows 7 Ultimate server and manage my XP home machines.  After trying to install and talking with several support tech's I am told that MC will not work on windows 7 machine because it does not have IIS and that I should use XP for MC.  Ok...not what I wanted to do and not what I told the sales person I wanted to do.  So I go to install on XP Home machine and XP Home does not support IIS.  Strike 2 !!!  I tried to do the workaround to install IIS on an XP Home machine and it hangs when I try to install.  I don't have time to install XP Pro on my machine right now.  I guess my only option is to install on each client as unmanaged and then later try to install XP Pro and the MC.

Does anyone else know a workaround that I can do so I can get up and running with my current configurations?  Not happy that I was sold the product that will not work like I explained to sales person.

SEP 12 SBE does not use IIS.  It uses Apache as the web server instead of IIS.

Apache installs when installing the SPC.

The Small Business build of SEP does not use IIS so this would not be necessary in order to utilize the SPC on any systems.

Something to keep in mind however is that Windows 7 Ultimate has a concurrent connection limit of 20. This means that only 20 active connections are allowed at one time. Simply having the SPC and a client installed are going to utilize 4 of these connections. If you have more than 16 clients there is good potential for communications issues since clients will maintain a constant connection to the SPC server.
