While attempting to upgrade to Win10 the requirement to uninstall Symantec appeared. The windows uninstall/change program says"interrupted before it could be completed," SCSCleanWipe fails with error code 5, and manual uninstall is not possible because services can not be stopped. My SEP_INST file is attached. Not sure what to do but not willing to give up and use the plumbers wrench yet.

Here's the Windows 10 compatibility link
    https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/symantec-endpoint-protection-and-windows-10-compatibility

I also had this issue but when I uninstalled SEP upgraded to windows 10 and re-installed SEP I had no issue.

If your windows 10 is requesting uninstall of SEP as incompatible here is the work around posted by symantec for SEP 12.1 RU6 MP1 & MP1a

looks like the new SEP 12.1 RU6 MP2 carries some fixes fro win 10.

    here is extract

After an upgrade to 12.1.6MP1or later, an upgrade to Windows

10 prompts you to uninstall Symantec Endpoint Protection

    (3806157)

If you upgrade Symantec Endpoint Protection from 12.1.5 or earlier to 12.1.6 MP1,

12.1.6 MP1a, or 12.1.6 MP2, and then immediately begin an upgrade to Windows

10, you may see an error message that you must first uninstall Symantec Endpoint

Protection. This issue occurs because additional Symantec Endpoint Protection

upgrade processes have not completed. Therefore, the Windows upgrade detects

product files from an earlier Symantec Endpoint Protection version that does not

    support Windows 10.

To prevent this issue, do one of the following tasks before you upgrade the operating

    system to Windows 10:

Uninstall the earlier version of Symantec Endpoint Protection.

Upgrade Symantec Endpoint Protection to 12.1.6 MP1 or later using the following

    command-line switches:

    setup /v"l*v c:\log.txt MIGRATIONDELAY=1 MAXMIGRATIONDELAY=1"

If you already upgraded to 12.1.6 MP1 or later, check the file roru.log to verify

the completion of the upgrade. The last line in the log should display the date

and time, and the word "Finished."

    Release notes 7

    Known issues and workarounds

You can locate this file by default in \ProgramData\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint

Protection\CurrentVersion\Data\Install\Logs\ (for Windows XP: \Documents and

    Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint

    Protection\CurrentVersion\Data\Install\Logs\).

If you encounter this message, do not uninstall Symantec Endpoint Protection as

prompted. Instead, cancel the Windows 10 upgrade. Check the file roru.log as

previously indicated, and when the upgrade processes complete, begin the Windows

    10 upgrade again.

Thanks for the link but I am not interested in re-installing or upgrading SEP.  My other computers had no problem uninstalling SEP.  All I am trying to do is remove SEP from this one.

I am not installing SEP I am trying to uninstall it. Besides I doubt that I could install the new version without uninstalling the old one.  Thanks for the effort but this does not solve the problem.

Then run cleanwipe to remove the existing install.

My problem with upgrading to Win 10 is that SEP can not be uninstalled or upgraded to SEP 12.1 RU6 MP2 so there is no roru.log.  I have tried every method to uninstall it and none of them work. I shouldn't have to upgrade a program just to remove it from the system.

As I stated in my inital post SCSCleanWipe fails with error code 5

Are you using the very latest version of it?

And when is this install log from? It's complaining about incompatability:

MSI (c) (A0:A4) [13:52:57:237]: Product: Symantec Endpoint Protection -- This version of Symantec Endpoint Protection does not support 64-bit platforms.  Please install Symantec Endpoint Protection for Win64 instead.

    I thought you were uninstalling?

SCS Cleanwipe is/was for removing Symantec Antivirus, not SEP. So it's not going to work.

For SEP, there is a completely different version:

Download CleanWipe to uninstall Symantec Endpoint Protection

    http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO74877

You can get the new version from fileconnect using your serial or you can contact support and they will provide a download link to it.

They'll likely want some proof of entitlement as well, like a customer number or Support ID so just be prepared with those.
