Endpoint Protection12.0 migration

Created: 01 Mar 2012 | 3 comments

I have an old server running Endpoint Protection 12.0.1001.95 and need to migrate it to a new server.  In the migration steps document I found it states that I need to have the same version of Endpoint Protection installed on both source and target.  So, I need to either upgrade my existing install to 12.1, or I need to obtain 12.0.1001.95 to install on my new server.

How close do the versions need to be to complete the migration?  Can I go from 12.0.1001.95 to 12.1?

If not...

I would like to be able to upgrade my existing install, but I only have 300MB available on the C drive of the server.  I don't know that this isn't enough to complete the install, but I'm not hopefull.

Is this enough free space to complete the upgrade from 12.0.1001.95 to 12.1?  How much space do I need?

If I cannot upgrade the current install, is it possible to obtain install medium/files for 12.0.1001.95 to install on the new server?

Any other ideas to resolve my quandry?

Hi Mcardozo,

Check till date SEP releases

http://bit.ly/m0vOJp

You can upgrade from SEP 12.0 ( 12.0.1001.95) to SEP 12.1 RU1 (12.0.1001.95 )

Check following forum Article and Public KB:

https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/articles/upgrade-paths-sep-121amber

http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH163514

The SEP 12.1 SEPM upgrade installer requires three times the current database size (sem5.db) if upgrading from pre-12.1 SEPM with the embedded database only.

Reference :  http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH162730

If you can not make free space, you can install new SBE 12.1 RU1.

To obtain new software browse to https://fileconnect.symantec.com/, you would required serial number to download software.

If possible I would suggest to create free space to avoid some extra work.

I hope it will help you !!!

Through some heavy wriggling I was able to free up just enough space for the upgrade to complete.
