Endpoint Tamper Protection still not compatible with IBM Rational ClearCase?

cccredmgr(556): Warning: OpenProcessToken failed: Error 5: No additional description available for this system error.

We are still having this issue and I want to see if there is a better fix than turning off tamper protection as recommended in this article from way back in 2007 before Endpoint was released:

 http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=0&q1=OpenProcessToken+failed&uid=swg21259534&loc=en_US&cs=utf-8&cc=us&lang=all

I have already tried simply adding a tamper protection exception for the cccredmgr file, but it has not helped.
Any other suggestions?

The last customer that I had

The last customer that I had with clearcase did NOT have any issue with this.  This was over a year ago for me.

What we did have an issue with is build times increasing by about 50-100% with auto-protect enabled.

The workaround was to install NAC, and when Clearcase was open, auto-protect was disabled, and a firewall rule enabled that blocked all external access except to email and  the clearcase servers.

The link you mention is related to Symantec Antivirus, and NOT Endpoint Protection.  Which version are you running just to clarify?  My above scenario was using SEP MR2 maybe MR3...

There is an online portal, save yourself the long hold times. Create ticket online, then call in with ticket # in hand :-) http://mysupport.symantec.com "We backup data to restore, we don't backup data just to back it up."

More Details Pease

Hi Net-user,

I have not encountered those errors myself.  What version of ClearCase and what version of SEP is involved?  Are they the very latest-?

By the way, for anyone with a SAV client: I recommend disabling Tamper Protection from services.msc and rebooting the computer, rather than just disabling it in the SAV GUI.  That has solved some similar issues.

Thanks and best regards,

Mick

With thanks and best regards,

ClearCase and SEP issues.

Corp. IT have just installed SEP 11.0.5002 and as a result I'm unable to use ClearCase Remote Client 7.0.1 !!!!!
When attempting to login to the server ClearCase Remote Client reports that the passord is incorrect which it isnt!!!

problems with ClearCase Remote Client

I just learned from our ClearCase administrator that we're experiencing these problems.  The problems only occur if you use ClearCase Remote Client (rather than the standard "fat client" that most places likely use).  We are using ClearCase 7.01. and SEP 11 MR1.

You're using MR1?

You're using MR1?  11.0.1000.1375?  I strongly, STRONGLY urge you to get off of that build, which was released in January 2008, and up to RU6a then RU6 MP1.

I hope you meant RU6 MP1.

MR6 MP1 solves it !

We were having Blue screen's when using IBM Clearcase client + SEP11 MR5 .

The BSOD occurs when we list some particular attributes on a MVFS drive and Autoprotect is enabled.

We tried to disable tamper, remove NTP and exclude the entire MVFS drive from realtime but none of them was able to avoid BSOD.

At MR5, the only way to avoid BSOD was completely disabling realtime or avoiding listing files in MVFS drive with explorer using NTFS attributes.

Yesterday I tested it with MR6 MP1 SEP version and the BSOD does not occurs !

No changes or exclusions were needed.

I couldn't find anything related to IBM Rational Clearcase on the release notes, but it definitely was solved on the MR6 version.

Thanks Symantec !
