Created: 12 Jul 2010 | 4 comments
I keep getting an error message that another program must finish it's updates and please reboot the computer. Regardless of how many times I reboot, same message. After the 3rd time I got the message, I uninstalled the McAfee program that came on the computer, but no luck, still not able to install. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks

SEP Support Tool
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/ent-security....
Run the pre-installation check.
Will it be possible to provide some more information like screenshot, exact error message, which operating system is it, which version of SEP are you trying to install etc.? This will help more to suggest you something further.
Thanks & Regards,

Go to task manager and look for any instance of msiexec.exe running if you find any kill it.
After that download msi cleanup utility and intstall http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301
and then try to install it
After that if you get this error Symantec Endpoint Protection has detected that there are pending system changes that require a reboot. Please reboot the system and rerun the installation
Then navigate to
Prachand MCSE-2012 Symantec Technical Specialist (SCTS)
Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) 11 client installation fails with the message "Pending system changes that require a reboot have been detected"
Please don't forget to mark your thread solved with whatever answer helped you : ) Thanks & Regards Aravind
