I am updating from an older product to Symantec Endpoint Protection v.12.1 with a clean install of programs on a new server.

I don't seem to be able to connect to the old client computers which still run Symantec SAV v. 10.1.9000.  I want to update all the computers to the new EP client but I get a message "The selected client is not connected to the server.  You cannot perform this action until the client is connected to the server."

Do I really have to manually install the new EP client on each computer?

    Hello Stump3d,

Yes. You have to install SEP 12.1 on the machines before they can talk to (and be controlled by) the 12.1 SEPM.

The easiest way to do this is to use our Migration and Deployment Wizard.

How to use the Migration and Deployment Wizard:

    1. Login to the SEPM
    2. Click Select a Task in the top-right
    3. Click Install protection client to computers
    4. Follow the prompts from there.

    Regards,

    James
