Enterprise planning for task server

Need some assistance for Task Server Implementation.

Current Environment

I have 6 NS servers supporting 30 sites.
Each site has it's own package server.
A main reporting server with no managed clients.

Planning on install task server on the package servers.
Use the reporting server for a central location to execute tasks to clients.

I'm seeking a single interface where I can create and deploy the tasks without accessing each NS server.

Is it possible to use the reporting server for this. Or will I have to create the tasks from each NS server.

Thanks

Package Replication

NS7 should make your life tons easier... but in the current NS 6 world this might help you with SWD, etc...

Unfortunately I can't

Unfortunately I can't upgrade to NS7 until they complete AMS.

I don't see the Package Replication Solution as a viable solution for my environment.

Sounds like I'm back to creating and deploying the tasks on each NS server.

What's the most hosts you have seen supported from a Remote Task Server, and server specs?

Thanks

500

I have never seen the number written down, but maybe I am not looking in the right place. In talking to people at Manage Fusion the recommendation is 500 or so clients per task server, I have seen about 1000 active clients working well. I would be interested to hear others experience on this.

According to the Altiris Knowledgebase any NS with less than 500 clients doesn't need an additional task server, you can run Task services on the NS.

For environments over 500 you'll want one for each 2000 client computers over the 500.
