This issue has been solved. See solution.

I have a customer who we installed ev 6.0 back many moons ago and they never really capatilised on the product and subsequently only one or two mailboxes were archived.

The customer now wants to start utililsing some of the archiving features of ev and upgrade to the latest version.
In moving forward to get the customer on the latest version of Enterprise vault we decided to restore all email data uninstall ev 6.0 and do a fresh deployment of ev 8.0

I sucssessfully restored the users mailboxes however the customer has about 150 GB sitting in a journal archive.

When I search on the archive no data comes up to restore.

Is there a tool out there will let me restore an entire journal archive back to the exchange server?

What would the best way to be to go about restoring an entire journal achive. For users mailboxes i select restore all returned results in http://evserver1/enterprisevault/search.asp

your help would be greatly appreciated..

Regards,

Aaron

Export to PST

Hello Aaron,

It is trange it does not show you the content if you search.

Best option imho is to export the archive to pst. this will give you shitload pst's ofcourse, but it is something. you can than later import the pst again.

other option is to create a new journalmailbox. Use that to journal from that point on.
Move the old journalmailbox to a server that has sufficient storage to export the archive to.
(150GB in archive, at least 300GB in mbx)

export archive to mailbox. make sure you disable all mailboxes.

When installed 8.0 archive again.

Thank you, Gertjan

How would one go ahead and repair the index in version 6.0

Thanks for your replies just wanted to check how one would repair the indexes for the journal mailbox in version 6.0.

Other archives search and restore fine just not the journal mailbox.

Restoring more than 5000 items at a time

Ok so I've followed the article tony pointed me to and the indexes for the journal archives are back in action.
Ive started restoring the journal archive however im having to restore it a day at a time it seems seems the store has an average of 4000 emails a day.

Is there anyway way i can increase the 5000 search limit so I dont get the pop up.

Your search produced more than the maximum of 5000 matches. Try entering more specific criteria to narrow the search.

Im only upto febury 2007 so I in theroy i have another 365 * 3 search and restores to do. If I could in crease this limit to say 20000 it sure would make life easier.

export to pst.

I have forgotten about 6 functionality, as I worked for s hort time with it.

What you are trying to do seems to be too much effort to do it. You're using the websearch to reswtore items?

Can you not export the whole archive to a pst, then when upgraded import the pst in the new archive?

Thank you, Gertjan

Hi, Why not just upgrade what

Hi,

Why not just upgrade what you have rather than restore 150GB?  I expect what you have cannot be 'too wrong'.  So just upgrade to v8 and then reconfigure it as you see fit..
