This issue has been solved. See solution.

Hi,

When I rebooted the Vault server this morning there was this below event log entry as soon as it came back online. 3:57:50am

Legacy registry values are in use. Enterprise Vault has a new method of backing up Vault Stores that cannot be used until you remove this registry value. See the Administrator's Guide for information about backing up Vault Stores.

The following legacy registry values were found:

EnableExpiry

EnableFileWatch

EnableArchive

EnableCrawler

EnableReplayIndex

EnablePSTMigrations

How to fix this issue ?

Did you look it up in the admin guide?
anywho, to fix it, remove the registry keys its complaining about and then user the powershell scripts to put storage and indexes in and out of backup mode

well, I have just upgraded EV from 80.4 into 9.0.4.R1, do I have to create another script or delete some registry ?

Kind regards,

Well, there are the legacy keys used proir EV 8.0 hence this event should have logged since you upgraded to 8.0 from earlier versions. So just get rid of those keys and use methods explained in Admin guide backup section. As you were seem to be using EV 8.0 for a while, you might already have these scripts in place, if so then there is no need to create new scripts as long as you are using them with new method explained in admin guide..I hope this helps..

ah ok, so I'll refer to the EV 9.0.4 admin guide then.

what's the difference if I may know ?

Hi John,

Difference is that services no longer need to be stopped and started after you changed the registry entry.

EV now uses an EV Powershell command to set/clear backup mode. Which gives you more flexibility in backing up..

And I have seen you lookedat this: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH172279

That explains...
