Error 020000003 occurred starting scan
Created: 18 Dec 2012 | 3 comments
I ran a scan on all nodes and several clients and log came back with the above error when reviewing the longs on the management console.
I also noted that when viewing the client locally - there appears to be multiple scans still running on the machine. I have rebooted the machine and stopped the rtvscan.exe service. No success.
Q: how can I get rid of these scans that appear to be running on the local client?
Q: What action will deal with the above error message when trying to start remote scan from management console?

Are the clients missing a scheduled scan?
If your computer misses a scheduled scan for some reason, by default SEP tries to perform the scan until it starts or until a specific time interval expires. If SEP cannot start the missed scan within the retry interval, it does not run the scan.

Brian,
Thanks for reply. I do have a scheduled scan set up and it is possible that one was missed. However at this point in time there appears to be 2 scans running on 12/12/2012 and 2 scans running on 12/18/2012.
Is there a method to clear these active scans? I assume they are actrive scans.
You can try the SymRmvScan utility:
