Hi,
I have been researching this for several days now, I have read lots of docs and suggested solutions.
Current config is
Netware 6.0 SP5
Backup Exec 9.1 Build 1158.9
HP Ultrium 232
I have tried the !x on the backup exec startup, I have tried new cable, I have check that the hardware is compatable with Backup Exec. I have removed the software completly and deleted the NDS objects then re-installed. I have checked that the port is not in use and the error message doesn't not report that port 10000 is the problem.
At the server when I type List Storage Adapters, the tape drive appears;
0x07 [V358-A2] LSI_53C1030:00902 [slot 902]
0x08 [V358-A2-D3:0] HP Ultrium 1-SCSI P61D
0x08 [V358-A2-D3:0] HP Ultrium 1-SCSI P61D
The drive came with some software which works so I know that it's no the hardware.
Has anyone solved this one as it seems that a lot of people are having the issue, or do i just dump Backup Exec?

Is CPQSCSA.NLM loaded? If so, unload it because it can cause problems.
Also, take a look at the following TechNote which discusses known issues with LSI controllers:

Hi Arnold,
I had the same problem and the following solution worked for me:
Start the server, rem out bestart
then:
1) load dosfat to get access to C:\nwserver
2) go to C:\nwserver\drivers and rename nwtape.cdm to e.g. nwtape.cdmold
3) add the following line to startup.ncf (also located in C:\nwserver)
Set Auto Load of CDM Modules = OFF
4) restart the server and be happy that its working again :-)
Kind regards,
Martin
