  • 1.  Error 1603 - keeps happening

    Posted Dec 15, 2011 11:25 AM

I am running ver 6.9 and i get error 1603 on most of my PC application pushes. I am thinking some auto updating is causing this error. The funny thing is when I check, the installation is actually successful on the PC. Kind of strange.

1.) Does anyone know what i am referring to?

2.) How can I stop it from happening?

    thanks all!

This can happen if you are attempting to install the software using an account that doesn't have full rights, or if the folder is encrypted.  The Microsoft link below discusses this.  Also the link below that is an article about the error as well.

What version of DS 6.9 do you have in use.

SP4 for example had some fixes for error 1603.

Have a look into the Event Log ... you need the internal error number, not the return code of the main engine (msiexec).

Thansk for all the repies. I have not looked into this further...we are currently rebuilding our server with Symantec assistance. Hopefully we get all the bugs worked out. I'll refer back to these responses if need be. have a good evening.
