I'm trying to uninstall an evaluation copy of Backup Exec 12.5 from a server running Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition SP2.  I've tried uninstalling using the Add/Remove Programs control panel and by launching the BEWS 12.5 installer and using the 'Remove' option.  In both cases, the uninstallation fails and displays a dialog box saying:

Error 1606. Could not access network location\DLO

Does anyone have any ideas?

Hi,

The link below is when trying to install BEWS...you might want to make these changes to see if it works. Remember to backup your registry first:

http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/321046.htm

Another way to try do this is to use the MSI Installer Cleanup utility as per this article:

http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/250510.htm

Laters!

If you find this is a solution, please mark it as such.

I have recently inherited a

I have recently inherited a server farm that seems to have had an old install of the veritas backup exec software. In keeping with trying to keep my systems up to date, I have been tring to get 12.5 installed.
Therein lies the problem, i have performed the removal of the keys as per http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/287320.htm as well as manual registry searches to eradicate any vestiges of the software to attempt in getting the software updated.
This has not been successful and I now have servers i cannot garantee that i can have backed up other then by setting up shares for remote backups. This however does not assist in backup of critical configuration files.
Would there be a total listing of registry keys and files that I would need to remove to update this software? Perhaps a removal tool?

i was not able to post in a separate thread, my apologies.
