Endpoint Protection

Hi trying to install SEP 11.0.6300 . on few XP machines . I run the install package, when i click on install it computes required space and ends saying wizard was interrupted before symantec could be installed. Tried clean wipe multiple times , no success, tried installing liveupdate first , would windows installer clean up utility work ? any ideas  ?

In your Case, you would have to work on Manual Uninstallation Steps.

What version of Symantec Antivirus did you had installed on your machine??

Was it Symantec Antivirus version 10, Symantec endpoint Protection version 11??

Please run microsoft windows uninstall utility and check for the patches if there are any , however if you are trying to do this on a server machine i would recommend not to run MS uninstall and try doing manual removal for Sep

Make sure to back up the reg and then make changes to it .

Also check if there is any instance remaining in Add remove for sep which is already removed or instance of lu too , a reboot might fix and then you can try

Ran the utility but it didnt pick up anything related to symantec to remove. So i guess manual is the only way to go ...

Also used Ccleaner to clean up the registry , that didnt help either.  There was Officescan installed on the pc before, ran the setup utility which removed officescan but installation stopped when it came to installing SEP. 

Yes if there are no instance in Add remove for sep and if you have already tried then manual removal is the only option remaining , however you may try following before following manual removal ,

Login to machine using other user account local admin and then try installing sep

also try to push the package from sep manager to this machine it might work

Does this have anything to do with the machines having really low RAM , like 500mb ...

its all under the general recommednation , it  has nothing to do with that.

run cleanwip it should be fine.

Tried cleanwipe several times , no good . Doing the manual uninstall now .

That didnt pick up symantec 

You can run regmon

put a filter to msiexec.exe

check where it stops

if it stops at 89FCFC336D8F94544B96F6245976D638 key, take a backup, delete it

and try to run the setup, that should take care.

Try to take the complete backup of the registry and search for symantec delete all the locations highlighted during the search and then try installing SEP.

Delete the folders from

C\programfile\symantec

C\programfile\common file\symantec

C\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec

Manual uninstall did the trick . {33CFCF98-F8D6-4549-B469-6F4295676D83 Deleted this key and install went fine.
